US House Passes Bill to Make Daylight Saving Time Permanent

Published at Jul 15, 2026 03:01 pm
On the 14th, the U.S. House of Representatives voted to pass a bill that would make daylight saving time permanent nationwide, eliminating the need to change clocks twice a year.

However, the bill also allows individual states to apply for exemptions from implementing permanent daylight saving time.

The bill will now be submitted to the Senate for review, and if passed, will be sent to President Trump for signing into law.

Currently, most regions in the U.S. enter daylight saving time each March (clocks are set forward one hour) and return to standard time in November.
After the bill is passed, people will no longer need to adjust their clocks.

In any case, the U.S. Senate unanimously passed a similar bill in 2022, but it did not pass the House of Representatives at that time and therefore did not take effect.
