(Antara News, Jakarta, 16th) Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and Russian First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov discussed the progress of the Indonesia-Eurasian Economic Union Free Trade Agreement (FTA) negotiations in a meeting held at the Jakarta Independence Palace.
Accompanying President Prabowo at the meeting, Indonesia's Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto stated that the Indonesian government hopes for the free trade agreement negotiations to be completed as soon as possible, ideally reaching an agreement by the time of the President's visit to St. Petersburg, Russia, later this year.
"The meeting also discussed the progress of the Eurasian Economic Union Free Trade Agreement, with the hope that all relevant negotiation content will be completed by the time the President visits St. Petersburg." Minister Airlangga stated after the presidential press conference.
In the same meeting, Russian First Deputy Prime Minister invited President Prabowo to attend the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF 2025) from June 18 to 21, 2025.
"The Russian side hopes that the President will attend the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, during which multiple memorandums of cooperation, including economic and strategic cooperation, will be signed." Airlangga added.
In addition to inviting the President to attend the annual economic forum, Manturov, on behalf of the Russian government, also invited President Prabowo to participate in the Victory Day parade scheduled for May 9, 2025, in Moscow.
President Prabowo received Russian First Deputy Prime Minister Manturov at the Independence Palace at noon on Tuesday, followed by bilateral talks held in the state banquet hall.
President Prabowo was accompanied at the meeting by Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga, State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
Airlangga stated that in addition to the meeting with President Prabowo, Manturov's visit to Indonesia will also involve participation in the Indonesia-Russia high-level dialogue, which was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
"This high-level dialogue will be restarted." Airlangga said.
Moreover, Airlangga mentioned that the Russian delegation expressed interest in increasing the frequency of direct flights from Moscow to various regions in Indonesia and hoped to further simplify entry procedures for Russian tourists in the future.
