The US Central Command said that the US military will implement blockade measures on ships passing through Iranian ports and coastal areas, and will continue to support all vessels that do not violate blockade regulations navigating the waters in the region.
The US Central Command stated that from April 13 to June 18, the US military enforced a naval blockade against Iran, during which time more than 140 compliant vessels were required to change course, and 9 ships found to be in violation of the blockade lost their ability to navigate.
On June 17, the presidents of the United States and Iran signed a memorandum of understanding remotely. According to the document, after the signing of the memorandum, the United States would immediately begin lifting the naval blockade and any interference or obstruction against Iran, and would fully remove the naval blockade within 30 days. The following day, the US Central Command announced on social media that the US military had lifted all maritime traffic blockades on vessels entering and leaving Iranian ports and coastal areas.
Launching the "third consecutive night" of strikes against Iran
At 16:45 Eastern Time on the 13th, the US military began the "third consecutive night" of strike operations against Iran.
The US Central Command indicated that these strikes will continue to inflict heavy costs on the Iranian military and weaken its ability to attack merchant ships in the Strait of Hormuz.
Earlier that day, US President Trump said in a radio interview, "Tonight we are going to hit them hard, and tomorrow we will hit them even harder."
