(Bandar Seri Begawan, 25th) The Malaysian Expatriates Association in Brunei held a lively "Gong Xi Raya Double Festival Celebration" last night, with guest of honor Mohamad Aini and his wife attending. More than 250 members and guests enthusiastically participated, creating a festive atmosphere.

The association also invited dozens of children from the Yayasan Charity Center to attend the banquet. Throughout the evening, a number of songs were performed, including Chinese songs by indigenous artistes and Malay songs by Chinese committee members, fully displaying the charm of multiculturalism.

Additionally, a God of Fortune mascot distributed red packets, and there was a lucky draw with lucky numbers, making for a warm and harmonious scene.

Organizing chairman and acting president Lim Bin Li expressed special thanks in his speech to Dato’ Mohamad Aini Atan, advisors, and committee members for generously contributing their energy, time, and sponsorship, which made the event a success.

He said that all donations were carefully planned and used prudently, with the remaining funds to be fully allocated to the "Malaysian Expatriates Association Academic Excellence Award", which is expected to be presented between August and September this year.

He pointed out that living in a multicultural and multilingual environment like Malaysia and Brunei not only allows people to celebrate "Gong Xi Raya" together as they did, but also endows them with a powerful and unique advantage.

He said that people are able to communicate face-to-face with more people in the world, without the need for translators; Malay, English, and Chinese are indeed the most commonly used languages in Southeast Asia and between the East and West.

He mentioned that the Strait of Malacca has historically served as a trade bridge, and continues to do so today, especially as recent Middle East developments further highlight its importance.

He believes that among the over 7 billion global population, only about 30 to 40 million people have the opportunity to grow up and live in a multicultural and multilingual environment. Therefore, everyone can become the "software version" of the Strait of Malacca in this world—serving as an information bridge in the information technology era and as a knowledge bridge in the age of artificial intelligence.

He also encouraged the children, especially students, to choose to learn multiple languages and to make friends with those from different races at school and learn about each other's cultures, as this opportunity will become their greatest wealth.
