Vance: US-Iran War Still in the Mid-Game

(Washington, 9th) US Vice President Vance stated that the US is currently in the "mid-phase of the game" in resolving the Iran war issue, and that the US is working to understand whether Iran is willing to make the necessary long-term changes to improve relations with the US.

On Saturday (August 8), Vance told Fox News, “The Iran war is not over yet, but it is clearly no longer in the opening stage, but has entered the mid-game. The US is employing all available means—diplomatic, economic, and military—to ensure the best outcome for the American people.”

He also indicated that US-Iran negotiations have made progress in recent days, but Tehran has yet to meet all the Trump administration's demands. The US remains focused on determining whether Iran is willing to make long-term changes that could improve relations between the two countries. If Iran is unwilling, Washington will continue to apply pressure.

“The question is whether they have the capacity, whether their system has the capacity to provide what we are satisfied with and need in negotiations. This remains to be seen, but I think we have made some progress in the past few days.”

He also said that the US is working to maximize the volume of oil and natural gas transported through the Strait of Hormuz by dialoguing with Iran.

According to Iranian media reports, Iranian Foreign Minister Aragchi said Saturday that Iran and Oman are close to reaching an agreement, but this does not mean that the Strait of Hormuz will be reopened. “The reopening of the Strait still depends on other conditions, including compensation for the US breach of the memorandum of understanding.”
