(Turkey, 9th) Turkish Foreign Minister Fidan stated in a media interview that the trilateral defense agreement between Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan is not aimed at Iran.
The three countries signed the 'Mecca Joint Defense Agreement' on the 7th in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, aiming to deepen trilateral security cooperation and strengthen 'collective deterrence against any act of aggression.'
Fidan pointed out that the signing of this agreement is not directed at Iran or any other country, but serves as an overall commitment to safeguard the security of the three countries, and is an important step towards lasting regional stability. Should any member state suffer an attack, the three countries will negotiate and decide on the necessary level, form, and type of support; however, if no member is under attack, no country will be regarded as a threat.
Regarding the signing of the 'Mecca Joint Defense Agreement,' Iranian Foreign Minister Aragchi earlier wrote on social media, calling on regional countries to 'rely on themselves and seek genuine brotherhood, rather than depending on externally introduced defense systems.'
