A spokesperson from the US Department of Commerce stated that following the instructions of President Trump, new export licensing requirements have been issued for Nvidia H20, AMD MI308, and chips with equivalent functions exported to China, aiming to safeguard national and economic security.
According to foreign media reports, under the US export control measures, chip giant Nvidia must obtain a license to export H20 chips to China. Nvidia stated that the company will bear a cost of 5.5 billion USD (242.75 billion MYR). China is a key market for Nvidia's H20 chips.
As the US seeks to maintain its leading position in the artificial intelligence (AI) race, US officials are committed to preventing the sale of the most advanced chips to China, and Nvidia's AI chips have been a focal point of US export controls. After these regulatory measures took effect, Nvidia began designing chips as close as possible to the US restriction standards.
