(Kuching, 9th) The Angkatan Zaman Mansang Sarawak (AZAM Sarawak) recently organized the 2026 AYS Capacity Building Program at the AZAM Complex in Kuching.
This three-day event aimed to strengthen youth leadership and to nurture a systematic, influential, and sustainable spirit of volunteerism among members of the AZAM Young Souls (AYS).
The program brought together several AYS members who, through a series of experiential learning activities, cultivated discipline, teamwork, a sense of responsibility, and values-based leadership. The activities were facilitated by AZAM Sarawak Vice-Chairman, Ariff Irwani.
This event carried the theme of "Volunteerism and Moderation," with content including interactive sessions, group activities, and practical experiences, comprehensively challenging participants physically, emotionally, and intellectually.

In his welcoming speech, AZAM Sarawak’s Manager for Strategic Communications, Media & Youth Affairs, Mohamad Hasnar Hajin, pointed out that the program is a process of character and value shaping, commensurate with AZAM’s role as a participatory communication organization.
He said: "AYS capacity building is not a competition of who is the best, but focuses on cultivating attitude, discipline, and a sense of responsibility.
For AZAM, youth are not only event implementers, but also communication partners responsible for conveying positive values and messages to society."
On the other hand, AYS President Theron Then Kai Yuan stated that the program plays a key role in strengthening internal unity, direction, and leadership succession within AYS—especially as the current executive committee approaches the end of its term.
He said: "This program helps consolidate member consensus and allows new committee members to understand, ahead of time, the values, work culture, and leadership responsibilities that must be sustained to ensure AYS remains a credible youth platform."

The program also included several new AYS members, as part of AZAM Sarawak’s effort to promote systematized, guided training, ensuring the continuation of organizational values and leadership culture.
One new member, Hakimi, described the program as deeper than previous youth activities, especially in bringing a more profound experience in self-development and value formation.
The main objectives of the 2026 AYS Capacity Building Program include strengthening the spirit of youth volunteerism and moderation, cultivating socially aware and value-driven leadership, enhancing members’ understanding of their supporting roles in AZAM’s programs, and building a solid foundation in character, responsibility, and teamwork.
AZAM Sarawak also stated that the program further consolidates its strategic partnership with the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Sarawak (MYSED).
