On the 18th, Chinese Defense Minister Dong Jun stated in Beijing that the world has entered a new period of turbulence and transformation, with a growing global governance deficit. Beijing is willing to firmly be a force for peace, stability, and progress in the world, and promote the construction of a more just and reasonable global security governance system.
According to Xinhua News Agency, Dong Jun met on the same day with Vietnamese Defense Minister Phan Van Giang, Uruguayan Defense Minister Lasso, and Somali Defense Minister Fiqi, who were in China to attend the 12th Beijing Xiangshan Forum.
Dong Jun said that currently, the world has entered a new period of turbulence and transformation, the deficit in global governance is increasing, and the calls for peace, development, and cooperation—especially from the Global South—are on the rise. He pointed out that the Global Governance Initiative proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping meets the urgent needs of today’s world.
Dong Jun emphasized that China is willing to work with all countries, adhering to the principles of unity and mutual trust, sharing security risks, and seeking common ground while reserving differences, to continuously consolidate strategic mutual trust, deepen defense and security cooperation, firmly act as a force for world peace, stability, and progress, and advance the building of a more just and reasonable global security governance system.
