On the 17th, Hong Kong was rocked by a shocking gold heist involving 65 kilograms of gold, valued at over 31.84 million ringgit. On the evening of the 18th, local police announced that a total of 13 people had been arrested, including 12 men and 1 woman, aged between 29 and 60. All the stolen gold has been recovered.
According to Hong Kong media reports, a gold workshop located in Hung Hom's Fu Hang Industrial Building was robbed by a gang on the 17th, who made off with a large quantity of gold bars, gold bricks, and gold dust. Afterwards, police began hunting over ten men, including a former partner of the workshop, who was suspected to be the mastermind behind the robbery.
West Kowloon Regional Crime Squad Chief Inspector Hui Chung-hang stated that at about 5:50 am on the 17th, 17 men opened the door themselves and broke into the workshop. They instructed the three people inside to stay in a room before stealing gold bars, gold bricks, and gold dust — totaling 65 kilograms of gold, worth HK$59 million (31.84 million ringgit).
Afterwards, the workshop staff contacted the boss, who then reported the incident to the police. Following their investigation, police arrested 12 men and 1 woman, aged between 29 and 60, across multiple districts over two days. Some suspects have triad backgrounds.
There was a business dispute between the workshop partners, leading one party to gather a group of 16 people to carry out the robbery. They entered the workshop using the password, keys, etc., took the gold, and fled the scene.
