Former radio DJ Leung Chun-wing recently held the launch event for his new book and single MV, “A Letter to Dad in Heaven.” While sharing memories of his late father, he became overwhelmed with emotion several times, even shedding tears on stage. The atmosphere moved the audience, with many attendees’ eyes turning red.
On stage, he choked up repeatedly as he talked about his father’s passing from sepsis last December. He said that after his father’s passing, many everyday moments became memories he missed the most: “Every time I came home, whether at the bus station or at the airport, Dad was always the one waiting for me.”
Leung also mentioned that his father had a stern personality and was not good at expressing his feelings, but always cared for his family through actions. “Whenever I came home and opened the fridge, I would see the fruit and coconut water that Dad had prepared, all the fruit neatly cut and packed in boxes.” At this, he again broke down, and the atmosphere in the room became hushed.
He said that during his lifetime, his father was always proud of him, often sharing his work and achievements with relatives and friends. “I believe that even though he’s gone, he is still watching over me.” He shared that every time he told his father’s story, it felt like reopening a wound, but he still hoped that by sharing his experience, more people would cherish their family bonds. On the day of the event, the “A Letter to Dad in Heaven” MV also premiered, a project Leung personally contributed to by writing lyrics and music, and for which he traveled to Lang Tengah Island, Terengganu for filming.
