Louis Koo's Life Turnaround After Prison: Mrs. Charles Heung Recalls Their First Meeting, 'He Didn't Even Dare to Lift His Head'

Hong Kong film tycoon Charles Heung's wife, Tiffany Chen (Mrs. Heung), recently filmed a video to share her life insights, saying frankly, "Starting out with a bad hand doesn't determine the outcome—Louis Koo's comeback is truly shocking." She revealed that before his debut, Louis Koo had spent time in prison. Mrs. Heung recalled her first meeting with Louis Koo, saying he did not even dare to lift his head, but today, Louis Koo supports half the Hong Kong film industry.

Mrs. Heung encouraged everyone with her own experience. She admitted that since the age of 18 she worked two jobs and attended night school, turning a "bad hand" into a beautiful one—marrying well, enjoying 45 years of happy marriage, and proving the life philosophy that "a bad hand can be turned into a good one."

When asked if there was anyone she particularly admired, Mrs. Heung named Louis Koo. She revealed that when Louis Koo was 20, he was sentenced to 22 months in prison for acting as a lookout in a robbery out of loyalty to friends and taking responsibility for his actions. Mrs. Heung recalled: "After he was released, he was at a loss. I asked him to come to my house, and he couldn't even lift his head. At that time, he didn't have much confidence."
Louis Koo later appeared in some low-budget films, but their quality was poor. After an in-depth conversation with Louis Koo, Mrs. Heung decided to support him: "I thought he was pretty good, so I decided to cast him. I told him not to appear in those bad films outside anymore." In his later career, Louis Koo not only became a successful actor, but also a boss himself, and actively devoted himself to charity.

Mrs. Heung said frankly that with the Hong Kong film industry in decline, Louis Koo is currently "holding up" the scene. She hopes the spirit of Hong Kong cinema will be passed down forever. She praised him, saying: "He might be losing money, but he still insists on doing it—how great is that!"

Finally, Mrs. Heung summed up earnestly: "So it doesn't matter if you've made mistakes; what's important is how you take the right path... You might think you've been dealt a bad hand in life, but some people were born without any cards at all. Starting from the bottom, without a rich father or resources, how well you play your cards all comes down to your effort and diligence. As long as you persevere, there is no reason you won't succeed."
