Cai Yijie Cancer Cells Spread After Surgery; Appears Gaunt and Thin at Tea Restaurant

Grasshopper member Cai Yijie announced in April 2026, during his concert, that his cancer cells had spread, but he also promised to actively fight the disease. Recently, a netizen happened to run into Cai Yijie at a tea restaurant, unexpectedly revealing his current situation.

According to Hong Kong media reports, the netizen bumped into Cai Yijie while dining at a tea restaurant. He was seen sitting alone in a corner, dressed in loose-fitting red clothing paired with black shorts, and wearing a baseball cap. The report pointed out that, in the photos, Cai Yijie’s complexion looked dark and his cheeks appeared sunken, prompting many fans to comment with concern: “He’s gotten so much thinner!”

Although Cai Yijie appeared frail, he was still very friendly to the netizen who recognized him. Not only did he personally guide the fan on which angle would make selfies look better, but in the end, he even took the initiative to take the fan’s phone for a photo together, showing no signs of celebrity airs.

Looking back on Cai Yijie’s battle with cancer, he once shared that before falling ill, he suddenly felt dizzy and unwell while volunteering. After being hospitalized and examined, he was informed that he had a seven-centimeter malignant tumor in his brain. Despite undergoing brain surgery within a week, the day after the operation, the doctor delivered an even heavier blow, telling him that the cancer cells had already spread.

Facing such blows one after another, Cai Yijie demonstrated incredible willpower. During treatment, his weight once dropped drastically from 72 kilograms to 63 kilograms, leaving him extremely thin. But in order to fulfill his promise to fans, he still worked hard to practice and maintain his food intake, ultimately making a successful comeback on the Hong Kong Coliseum stage, where he honestly disclosed his condition to the public. He revealed that he had “tried many methods” to fight the illness, and is still actively seeking various treatments.
