U.S. Department of Defense spokesperson Parnell confirmed on the 21st that the United States has officially accepted the Boeing 747 aircraft gifted by Qatar, which will be converted into Air Force One for use by the U.S. President.
He said, "The Secretary of Defense has accepted a Boeing 747 aircraft from Qatar in accordance with all federal regulations."
He stated that the Department of Defense will strive to ensure that the aircraft used to carry the U.S. President has appropriate security measures and meets its functional mission requirements.
Recently, Trump posted on the social media platform "Truth Social" that the Pentagon will receive a Boeing 747 aircraft for free to temporarily replace the Air Force One, which is already 40 years old.
He said this is a public and transparent transaction.
The aircraft is valued at 400 million USD (approximately 1.703 billion MYR), possibly making it the most expensive foreign gift in U.S. government history. The Democratic camp strongly criticizes this move by Trump as blatant corruption, with clear traces of foreign influence.
The U.S. Constitution includes a clause known as the "Emoluments Clause," which prohibits government officials from accepting gifts from "any king, prince, or foreign state."
