A shooting incident occurred in Madrid, Spain, on the 21st, resulting in the death of a 52-year-old man.
Spanish police sources told local media that the deceased was Andriy Portnov, a former member of the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada and a senior aide to pro-Russian former President Yanukovych, who was sanctioned by the United States.
Sources say the incident happened around 9:15 am local time in the affluent area of Pozuelo de Alarcón in the Madrid region. Several attackers fired multiple shots at Portnov's head and back before fleeing the scene. Paramedics arrived to find the man had already died. Police are currently searching for the gunmen.
Media reports pointed out that the deceased had just dropped off his child at school before being killed.
Portnov was under investigation by Ukraine and the EU for alleged corruption and human rights violations.
