(Miri, 17th) Miri Hospital conducted an organ donation surgery yesterday for a 43-year-old man who passed away, fulfilling his wish during his lifetime and leaving love behind.
According to a post on Miri Hospital's Facebook, the man had registered as an organ donor since 2014. During the surgery, the hospital donated his kidneys to patients in need.
The kidney donation transplant surgery was led by surgeons Aaron Goh and Kamal Raj from the Sarawak General Hospital. The National Transplant Resource Center (NTRC) team, consisting of Dr. Engku Emilia Engku Awang, SN Mohammad Aliff Abdullah, and two urology nurses Siti Zulaikha Md Sidek and Liz Estevera Gabin, also assisted in completing this noble surgery.
Additionally, Dr. Uma Devi from the Sarawak General Hospital UPOH unit and the senior management team of Miri Hospital were also involved to ensure the success of yesterday's surgery.
This is the first organ transplant surgery in Sarawak this year and the fifth organ donation case at Miri Hospital.
