(Bandar Seri Begawan, 19th) The Islamic Religious Council Property Development Institution recently paid a working visit to Hua He Agricultural Farm to gain first-hand understanding of the technology, innovation, and best practices being used in the fields of modern animal husbandry and agriculture, while also exploring strategic cooperation opportunities to support the country’s food security agenda.
The delegation was led by Deputy Minister of Education, who is also Chairman of the Board of the Islamic Religious Council Property Development Institution and Vice Chairman of the Islamic Religious Council, Dato Dr. Norarfan, and was welcomed by Member of Parliament and Managing Director of Hua He Agricultural Farm, Lau Hiao Tek.
The visit began with the egg-laying poultry farming facilities. The delegation listened to an introduction to the closed-cage chicken coop system, which uses automated technology to manage feed and water supply, temperature control, ventilation, and continuous egg collection processes.
The group also directly observed the egg production, grading, quality inspection, and packaging processes, right up to the official supply of products to the market.
Subsequently, the delegation visited the vegetable growing area, which uses a greenhouse system. This system controls the growing environment to improve production efficiency, reduce disease risks, and ensure stable quality and ongoing supply of agricultural products.
The visit itinerary also included touring the farm’s cold storage facilities to understand post-harvest management and storage processes before products are transported to market.
Hua He Agricultural Farm is among the enterprises certified by the Agriculture and Agrifood Department with the Brunei Good Agricultural Practices certification, reflecting the farm’s ongoing implementation of high quality, safety, and sustainable development standards in both agriculture and animal husbandry sectors.
The purpose of this working visit was to enable the Islamic Religious Council Property Development Institution to gain deeper insights into modern technological and innovative applications and agrifood industry management, while also exchanging views on potential strategic cooperation opportunities in agricultural and livestock development to support the nation’s enhanced efforts toward food security.
The visit concluded with a discussion and exchange session between both parties, during which they shared views on best practices and future potential cooperation opportunities to jointly promote the sustainable development of the country’s agrifood sector.
