Liu Zhihong: Serving Fellow Countrymen in Brunei Dapu, Caring for the Elderly, Promoting Culture

(Kuala Belait, 20th) The Brunei Dapu Association held its annual Elderly Appreciation ceremony and Member’s Children Academic Excellence Award ceremony this morning at the association’s hall.
The association’s chairman, Liu Zhihong, said in his speech that the association, as a platform for fellow villagers to connect, help, and care for one another, has always been committed to serving members, caring for the elderly, and promoting culture. The holding of the Elderly Appreciation and Academic Excellence Award ceremonies is precisely the implementation of the association’s aims, gathering community affections, and promoting harmony.
As July happens to be the grand occasion of His Majesty the Sultan’s celebration, he congratulated His Majesty the Sultan of our country on his 79th birthday, wishing His Majesty robust health, longevity, the nation’s prosperity, and peace for the people.
"Today, a total of 9 senior members received the Elderly Appreciation Cash Awards, with 2 aged 80, 4 aged 85, and 3 aged 90. This year, the cash award is given in place of the traditional gold medal due to the instability of international gold prices and inflation. Therefore, we hope the award-winning members will enjoy the cash gift and also wish all the elders happiness, health, and joyful family life!"
"At the same time, we are also holding the 2024 Member’s Children Academic Excellence Awards for outstanding Dapu students."
He stated that the purpose of awarding the Academic Excellence Award is to encourage more Dapu students to study hard, achieve academic success, and become pillars of the nation in the future. He advised students to always remember their parents’ nurturing, to respect teachers and cherish their teachings at school, and to be grateful to parents and teachers for their guidance and upbringing.
Today, a total of 9 member’s children won awards. Congratulations to all the outstanding award-winning students, and we hope they will keep improving, work hard in their studies, achieve greater academic progress, and have a promising future ahead!
