(Bandar Seri Begawan, 2nd) The 27th Baiduri Bank Golf Masters kicked off in grand fashion yesterday morning at the Pantai Mentiri Golf Club, marking the official start of an exciting two-weekend event that continues the tradition of promoting charity through sports.
The tee-off ceremony was held in a solemn atmosphere, officiated by Pengiran Kilan Azah, Vice President of Baiduri Bank Group’s Treasury & Institutional Banking Division and Chairman of the Organizing Committee, together with the club’s chairman, Retired Colonel Zalin bin Haji Zunaidi. Tournament officials, club executive committee members, and the first batch of golfers who teed off at dawn all gathered to witness the opening spectacle.
Funds raised from this year’s tournament will be donated to five local non-profit organizations: SMARTER Brunei, Brunei National Association of the Blind (BNAB), La Vida Sdn Bhd, Learning Ladders Society, and the Child Development Centre (CDC), reflecting Baiduri Bank's long-term commitment to social care as a corporate value.
The opening day saw a thrilling match, with Bryan Chiew taking the lead with a score of 66, six under par. Suhaimi Ibrahim and Fauzi Haji Timbang posted scores of 70 and 76 respectively, setting a highly competitive scene.
Registration for the tournament remains open, with categories for men, women, seniors, and juniors. Entry fees are BND120 for adults and BND60 for juniors. Those who register through the Maribali platform (www.maribali.com.bn) can enjoy the preferential rate of BND115.
