(Seremban, 26th) Perikatan Nasional (PN) Chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Samsuri stated that PN will not prevent anyone, including Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Sanusi, from taking part in campaign activities in Negeri Sembilan.
He said whether Sanusi comes to campaign depends on his personal schedule.
“We are not stopping anyone from coming to help with the campaign. It depends on Sanusi himself, whether he still has time to come in the future.”
He made this remark in response to Barisan Nasional (BN) Chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid’s comments after chairing PN’s Negeri Sembilan manifesto launch yesterday; Ahmad Zahid previously suggested that Sanusi should no longer come to Negeri Sembilan to campaign.
Previously, Sanusi, who is also PN’s Election Director, reportedly made remarks considered highly sensitive during a campaign in Jempol, claiming that “the Chinese have China, the Indians have India, and the Malays only have Malay land.”
When asked whether Sanusi’s speech style might affect support from non-Malay voters, Ahmad Samsuri stated that Sanusi had already issued a clarification.
“I think we need to clarify what he actually said, and he will take legal action against anyone who distorts his statements.”
On the other hand, in response to claims that Bersatu will be expelled from PN, Ahmad Samsuri explained that as the PN Chairman, he does not have the authority to make such a decision unilaterally and that such matters require a consensus within PN.
