The latest epidemic report released by the Ministry of Health of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) on Tuesday shows that the total number of confirmed Ebola cases in the current outbreak in the country has reached 2,011, with 754 deaths.

The report states that as of the 13th, the epidemic has spread to five provinces: Ituri, North Kivu, South Kivu, Haut-Uélé, and Tshopo. Since its first reported cases a few days ago, Haut-Uélé Province has seen further spread, with a total of 14 confirmed cases and 13 deaths.

According to the report, the appearance of new cases in the province indicates that the scope of the outbreak continues to expand, and immediate strengthening of monitoring, testing, and prevention in surrounding provinces is needed.

The report shows that 753 patients are currently under isolation or hospitalized, while the total number of recovered cases is 366. Bed occupancy rates in medical facilities in North Kivu have reached 120.6%, putting continued pressure on treatment capacity.

The report also points out that some affected areas are near the border with Uganda, and frequent population movement increases the risk of further spread of the epidemic.
