(Bandar Seri Begawan, 5th) The Acting Director of the Royal Customs and Excise Department (RCED) of Brunei, Mohammad Aziz, together with a senior customs officer, attended the 27th World Customs Organization (WCO) Asia/Pacific Regional Heads of Customs Administration (A/P RHCA) Conference held in Hong Kong, China, from May 18 to 20, 2026. The meeting was chaired by Li Jianji, Director of the Secretariat of the WCO Vice-Chair (Asia-Pacific Region).
This conference brought together heads of customs administrations and regional representatives from member countries in Asia-Pacific, focusing on discussing regional customs issues. During the meeting, participants shared innovative customs measures, enforcement strategies, and training experiences through high-level thematic reports and interactive discussions, showcasing the region's leadership in modern customs practices and further strengthening mechanisms for information exchange and cooperation among members.
During the event, the Brunei delegation engaged in exchanges with institutions such as China's Customs, Japan's Customs Bureau, Pakistan Customs, and the Secretary General of the World Customs Organization, with a focus on global customs hot topics.
In addition, RCED also held a bilateral meeting with Korea Customs Service, exploring customs cooperation including mutual assistance agreements, combating illicit trade, capacity building, and information sharing.
It is reported that the Asia-Pacific Regional Heads of Customs Administration Conference is held annually, with the 28th conference expected to be convened before the end of June next year.
