This year’s competition has received an enthusiastic response, attracting a total of 347 student registrants.

This annual Chinese creative writing event aims to inspire primary school students’ interest in Chinese writing, enhance Chinese language proficiency, and discover writing talents through on-site composition. The co-organizing units include Chung Hwa Middle School (B.S.B.), Seria Chung Ching Middle School, Kuala Belait Chung Hwa School, Tutong Chung Hwa School, Kiudang Chung Hwa School, Temburong Pei Yu School, Sungai Liang Chung Ling School, and Nawai Chung Hwa School.

Outstanding works will qualify to participate in the "17th (2026) Singapore-Malaysia-Brunei Primary School On-site Chinese Creative Writing Elite Competition," where they will interact and compete with outstanding contestants from Singapore and Malaysia.

According to data released by the organizers, of the 347 participants, 212 are ethnic Chinese students and 135 are non-Chinese students, fully reflecting the active atmosphere of multicultural participation in Chinese language learning in Brunei.

The competition will be held simultaneously at Chung Hwa Middle School (B.S.B.), Seria Chung Ching Middle School, Kuala Belait Chung Hwa School, Tutong Chung Hwa School, Kiudang Chung Hwa School, and Temburong Pei Yu School, making it convenient for students from various regions to take part nearby.

He said the competition will adopt an on-site given topic and timed writing format, and the judging panel will score entries based on content, structure, creativity, and language expression. The list of winners in each group is expected to be announced via newspapers after the competition.

The Brunei Fuzhou Shiyi Association and Kuala Belait Fuzhou Association expressed their gratitude to all co-organizing Chinese schools for their full cooperation, and encouraged all participating students to stay calm and showcase their best writing skills.

The organizers also hope to further promote the development of Chinese education in Brunei through the competition, and to strengthen cultural and academic exchanges between Brunei, Singapore, and Malaysia.
