US Trade Representative: US Requested Call with China but Was Postponed by Chinese Side

(US, 13th) US Trade Representative Greer revealed that after China announced an expansion of rare earth export control measures, the US side attempted to hold a call with the Chinese side, but Beijing postponed the call.
According to Reuters, Greer said in an interview with Fox News' Sunday Briefing on October 12: "We did not receive notification about this measure. After learning the news from public channels, we immediately contacted the Chinese side, hoping to speak with them on the phone, but they postponed the call with us."
Greer described China's move as a "preemptive strike."
On the same day, the Trump administration said it was willing to reach an agreement with China to ease the new trade tensions, but also warned that Beijing's recently announced export control measures were a major obstacle to negotiations.
US Vice President Vance, in an interview with Fox News' Sunday Morning Futures, called on Beijing to "choose a rational path." He stated that if the dispute continues, President Trump holds more leverage.
Trump then posted on social media, suggesting a way out for Chinese President Xi Jinping, while also issuing a veiled threat, stating that a full-scale trade war would hurt China.
