Fahmi: Cabinet Reshuffle Decision to Follow After Party Central Elections

Published at Apr 21, 2025 03:32 pm
The People's Justice Party (PKR) Central Elections will be held on May 24, and the decision on whether to reshuffle the cabinet will only become clear after the party elections.

Unity Government spokesperson Fahmi emphasized that this decision is entirely within the exclusive authority of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar, and no one else has the right to comment.

“This is the Prime Minister's privilege. Perhaps after the central elections, we will have a clearer view on the direction and whether there is any need for adjustments.”

Fahmi, who is also the Communications Minister, made this statement to the media on Monday during an inspection at the National Infocomm Centre in Taman Mutiara Mas, Skudai, Johor.

Accompanying him were Johor State Executive Councilor (in charge of Education and Publicity) Azman Daeming and Skudai State Assemblywoman Marina Ibrahim.

As the PKR Communications Director, Fahmi responded to earlier speculations about a potential cabinet reshuffle following the loss of several deputy ministers and Members of Parliament in the divisional elections.

He stated that the rise and fall of election results within the party is a political norm, especially prevalent in the culture of the PKR.

“We cannot assume someone's qualification based on their position in the divisional level. Sometimes, individuals who do not contest at the divisional level may receive strong support at the national level.”

He added that the nominations for the central elections would take place from May 3 to 4, and the physical voting day is set for May 24, to be held concurrently with the National Congress.
