(Chengdu/Bangkok, 19th, Comprehensive Report) Thai Prime Minister Anutin, who is currently on an official visit to China, led a high-level delegation to Chengdu, Sichuan on Saturday (July 18), making a full effort to attract Chinese investment in high technology, electric vehicles, and the tourism industry.

This is Anutin's first official visit to China since taking office as Prime Minister, accompanied by a Thai business delegation of 110 representatives.

On Saturday, Anutin held one-on-one talks with senior executives from six leading Chinese companies, aiming to promote substantive cooperation. He also inaugurated the new Chengdu office of the Thailand Board of Investment (BOI), which is Thailand's fourth such office in China after those in Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou.

Sak, the Thai Consul-General in Chengdu, said that the establishment of the Chengdu BOI office allows western Chinese companies to directly connect and communicate with Thai authorities nearby, and to custom-design their Thai investment plans based on their own industrial development needs. At the same time, Chinese enterprises can use Thailand as a springboard to access the markets of Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Vietnam.

According to the Bangkok Post, Anutin attended the World Artificial Intelligence Conference in Shanghai on Thursday (July 16), where he held bilateral talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping. Xi reiterated at the meeting that "China and Thailand are as close as one family", and expressed support for the Thai government's commitment to strengthening the two countries' comprehensive strategic partnership. Both sides agreed to deepen cooperation in trade, investment, artificial intelligence (AI), innovation, future industries, and regional security.

The two leaders also reaffirmed their commitment to further developing bilateral relations through pragmatic cooperation aimed at promoting economic growth, enhancing Thailand's competitiveness, and creating opportunities for people in both countries.

Anutin proposed expanding cooperation in the fields of AI, semiconductors, health technology, clean energy, and green industries. He invited Chinese technology firms to set up production bases and regional headquarters in Thailand, in order to strengthen supply chains, cultivate local talent, and increase the use of Thai raw materials, thereby creating high-quality job opportunities and boosting Thailand's competitiveness.

The two countries agreed to accelerate connectivity in land, sea, and air transportation networks—especially regional railway construction—to promote trade, investment, and personnel exchanges. Both sides also pledged to deepen cooperation in aerospace technology, public health, human resource development, and people-to-people exchanges.

In the area of security, Anutin proposed establishing a Thailand-China "2+2" dialogue mechanism, involving the foreign affairs and defense ministers of both countries for strategic dialogue, strengthening cooperation against cybercrime, and jointly addressing emerging security threats.

According to Thai public television, Xi Jinping indicated that China is willing to mediate in the border conflict between Thailand and Cambodia, and also clarified that a batch of tanks recently delivered by China to Cambodia was ordered by Phnom Penh before last year's Thai-Cambodia conflict. China understands Thailand's sensitivity over these tanks, and has ordered a delay in the delivery of the next batch to Cambodia; China also made it clear to the Cambodian side that these tanks and other Chinese-made weapons must not be used to attack Thailand.
