A video circulating online shows a man wearing what resembles a police uniform, directing traffic on the road. The police have summoned this man for questioning, confiscated his props, and warned him not to impersonate law enforcement officers.
The police acted on a public complaint and summoned the man, nicknamed “Sergeant Alang”, prohibiting him from wearing police attire and mimicking law enforcement officers. They also confiscated the uniform and props.
The video uploaded by Facebook user Eone Psyco shows the man allegedly operating in Kapar, Klang, Selangor. Some netizens unsuccessfully called for him to continue playing the role of a “policeman”.
Sinar Harian quoted the user's post, stating that “Sergeant Alang” aspires to be a police officer, but it is not possible.
Eone mentioned that “Sergeant Alang” has not caused any trouble locally, but recently faced distress due to pressure from netizens.
However, the user wrote a post thanking those who support “Sergeant Alang” and hinted at giving him a new position, such as being an “undercover agent”.
The public is urged to stop circulating the video to avoid causing mental distress to individuals with special circumstances and to treat these individuals with respect.
“Sergeant Alang” is well-known in the Kapar community and is often seen in police-like uniforms performing entertaining actions like “setting up roadblocks”, which many people find endearing.
