On Wednesday, the Magistrate Court issued a remand order for 14 individuals, including 3 women, to assist in the investigation of a fake birth registration case.

Magistrate Amira Mas Dura approved the remand order application submitted by Deputy Public Prosecutor Muaz from the Anti-Corruption Commission, as well as Chief Prosecutor Muhammad Arif, detaining all suspects aged between 28 and 49 from today (16th) until the 20th of this month.

Sources indicated that all suspects were arrested between 12:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. yesterday at the Selangor Anti-Corruption Commission office, with investigations revealing that they applied for identity cards and birth certificates at the National Registration Department.

“Between 2015 and 2023, they carried out the aforementioned actions by submitting birth registration forms containing false birth confirmation details of babies, despite the relevant hospitals having no records of these births.”

Earlier, all suspects, dressed in detention attire, arrived at the court at 9:11 a.m. under the escort of anti-corruption officers and personnel.

Additionally, Selangor Anti-Corruption Commission Director Kairulzaman confirmed the matter, stating that investigations are being conducted under Section 18 of the Anti-Corruption Act.

According to media reports in March, the Anti-Corruption Commission arrested 16 suspects, including a public servant, a doctor with the Datuk Seri title, a lawyer, several agents, and birth registration applicants.

On the morning of March 11, the Anti-Corruption Commission launched “Operation Outlander” and “Operation Birth”, arresting all suspects aged between 20 and over 70 in several locations including clinics and law firms in Klang Valley and Johor.
