(Miri, 10th) Miri Chung Hua (National-type) Secondary School Principal Lai Jia Ling stated that the "Borneo International Robotics Championship" has continued to develop and grow over the years and has become an important international platform gathering young innovative talents from various countries. It not only promotes learning and exchange but also comprehensively enhances participants' overall abilities.

She made these remarks in her speech during the closing ceremony and awards dinner of the "2026 Borneo International Robotics Championship," held last night in the banquet hall on the 7th floor of the Meritz Hotel, Miri.

Lai Jia Ling pointed out that since the early days of the Borneo International Robotic Football Competition (in 2019), the event has continuously expanded its scale and influence, improving the quality and level of participation each year. The 2026 competition has successfully brought together youths from different countries and cultural backgrounds to learn, cooperate, and compete in a high-level environment.

She stated that this year’s event has successfully fulfilled its vision and mission, including providing students with a meaningful learning platform, promoting cross-cultural unity, as well as enhancing students’ creative thinking, critical abilities, communication skills, and team spirit—nurturing well-rounded talents with future competitiveness.

She said that the competition has also achieved multiple goals, including promoting STEM education, enhancing problem-solving abilities, encouraging innovative thinking, and strengthening the spirit of cooperation. In addition, this year's event, themed "Where Robots Meet Culture," successfully promoted Sarawak on the international stage—not only showcasing technological development, but also highlighting the local rich cultural heritage.

She pointed out that the competition also received high recognition, such as being included in the co-curricular activities assessment system (PAJSK) and connecting with the national robotics competition. Many participants have repeatedly achieved excellent results in related contests.

In her speech, she also praised all participants, both local and international teams, for displaying perseverance, creativity, and teamwork during the competition.

She emphasized that regardless of the final results, participants have gained valuable experience and self-confidence, which will become a key foundation for their future development.

Lai Jia Ling also expressed her gratitude to all parties that contributed to the success of the event, including the hosting organizers, Parent-Teacher Association, Alumni Association, teachers, and organizing committee members for their hard work, as well as the professional support from technical partner Sasbadi Learning Solutions.

She also thanked the Ministry of Education, Sarawak Education Department, Miri District Education Office, Miri City Council, Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC), Tesslab Robotics, and all partners for their support in nurturing a new generation of innovative talents.

She said that this year’s event fully demonstrated the importance of cooperation and shared vision, and also proved that education can shape a better future.

Lai Jia Ling pointed out that with the successful conclusion of the event, she hopes the spirit of innovation, cooperation, and cultural exchange will continue to flourish, inspiring more young people to move toward a broader future.
