Siklomun Cultural Tourism Festival Continues Promotion Tiong King Sing: Included in Official Tourism Calendar

(Kuching, 10th) The Siklomun District Cultural Tourism Festival will be included in Malaysia's official tourism calendar and promoted as a significant annual event, in order to consolidate the district's status as a Sarawak cultural heritage tourism destination.

Malaysia's Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Dato’ Seri Tiong King Sing, stated that he would instruct the Malaysian Tourism Board to ensure this festival continues to receive extensive promotion, making it a tourism product with long-term development potential.

He pointed out that the promotion of tourist destinations must be based on the high level of preparedness of the community and relevant parties.

"If we want this area to continue developing, we must be thoroughly prepared in sanitation, facilities, services, and the overall tourist experience."

"Malaysia Tourism Board will also provide assistance in promotion and publicity."

Dato’ Seri Tiong King Sing made these remarks while attending the opening ceremony of the 2026 Siklomun Cultural Tourism Festival.

At the same time, he noted that Siklomun has a long history, rich culture, and a community heritage that is still vibrantly preserved to this day, which is itself a powerful advantage.

"This is the region's true strength: culture is not only manifested through traditional performances or costumes, but also in the way people respect each other, live in harmony, and maintain interpersonal relationships."

He said, nowadays, tourists not only want to visit attractions, but also hope to learn about local culture, experience the lives of local residents, and feel authentic cultural experiences.

"Siklomun possesses such advantages, and must continue to be vigorously developed."

He also added that a culture-based approach to tourism and community experiences are vital for the successful hosting of Visit Malaysia Year 2026.

At the same time, he expressed his gratitude to all parties, including the local community, for their ongoing support for the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture in the development of the tourism industry.

"The strength of a region depends not only on the government, but also on the people who are willing to work together and develop jointly."
