(Japan, 28th) The Japan Meteorological Agency reports that a 6.1 magnitude earthquake has occurred in the waters near Iwate Prefecture, Japan.
According to Xinhua News Agency, the Japan Meteorological Agency said the earthquake occurred at 5:21 a.m. on Sunday (June 28) (4:21 a.m. Singapore time).
The earthquake's focus was at a depth of about 40 kilometers, with a noticeable tremor felt in multiple areas of Japan's Tohoku region. Authorities have currently not issued a tsunami warning.
A 7.2 magnitude earthquake occurred off the coast of Iwate Prefecture just this Thursday (25th). The Japan Meteorological Agency previously stated that a strong earthquake could occur again within about a week after the last quake.
