Our Prime Minister, Dato’ Seri Anwar, called Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and Thailand’s acting Prime Minister Puttam on Thursday (24th) afternoon to express Malaysia’s deep concern over the escalating situation along the border between the two countries.
Anwar pointed out that, as the 2025 ASEAN Chair, Malaysia strongly urges Thailand and Cambodia to reach a ceasefire agreement as soon as possible to prevent the conflict from further escalating and to open up space for peaceful dialogue and diplomatic solutions.
“I welcome the positive responses and willingness to cooperate expressed by both Bangkok and Phnom Penh. Malaysia, in the spirit of ASEAN solidarity and shared responsibility, is willing to assist and advance the relevant peace process.”
Anwar emphasized that ASEAN’s strength comes from unity, and maintaining regional peace and stability should remain the firm and unwavering choice of all member states.
