(Bandar Seri Begawan, 23rd) In conjunction with His Majesty the Sultan’s 80th birthday celebration, the Tutong District 'Sultan with the People' event was held yesterday at the Community Center Square, where His Majesty personally attended, celebrating with the people and receiving a warm welcome from all walks of life.
This was the first in the series of Tutong District’s events for His Majesty’s 80th birthday celebration. Nearly the entire county’s residents actively participated, and the scene was filled with a festive atmosphere.
Upon His Majesty’s arrival, he was received by the Minister of State Security Coordination, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister of Defense Pehin Halbi, Minister of Social Policy and Manpower Coordination cum Minister of Home Affairs Dato Awang Amaddin, Minister of Health Dato Isham, and the National Committee Joint Chairman for His Majesty’s 80th Birthday Celebration and Acting Tutong District Officer Mohammad Sofian.
Other attendees included Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office Crown Prince Al-Muhtadee Billah, Prince Malik (Minister at Prime Minister’s Office) and Prince Jefri Bolkiah and other royal family members.
As His Majesty’s motorcade passed along the route, more than 3,000 students from Arabic schools, public and private primary and secondary schools, lined the road holding national flags, welcoming His Majesty and royal family members with waves and joyful smiles.
After ascending the review stage, His Majesty joined the crowd in singing the Brunei national anthem and witnessed a special performance themed 'The King’s Wisdom Inspires the People', showcasing the spirit of upholding the monarchical system and revering the wise monarch, encouraging unity and progress among all people. At the end of the performance, the whole audience chanted three times, 'Long live the King'.
Subsequently, His Majesty cordially met local residents, including students, civil servants, villagers from all Tutong villages, the Chinese community and chambers of commerce, Indian community and chambers, telecommunications companies (DST and Imagine), banking institutions, neighborhood watch groups, special children’s groups, associations, youth groups, senior activity centers, and members of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, engaging enthusiastically with all.
During the cordial meetings, His Majesty gladly received commemorative gifts and birthday cakes prepared by various groups in celebration of his 80th birthday, personally cutting a specially made birthday cake and sharing the joy of the celebration with the public.
