During the panel discussion, EVYD General Manager Abby Tan emphasized that successful AI operations require a sound risk framework that categorizes tools based on risk, as well as a clear mechanism for sharing responsibilities between developers and institutions. Furthermore, balancing local data sovereignty with international integration, and establishing a stringent compliance framework, are critical to expanding the widespread adoption of AI.
“If there’s one thing we could change, it would be to introduce a clearer, risk-based AI governance mechanism. Such a mechanism would enable low-risk AI applications to be adopted more swiftly, while high-risk applications would require stronger safeguards and effective human oversight. This approach protects society while promoting responsible innovation.”
