(Bandar Seri Begawan, 6th) The Social Development Department has declared that a TikTok account named '@sistemkebajikannegara' has misused the official emblems of the government and the department itself, spreading false information by claiming to offer SKN special assistance.
The department hereby states that this information is untrue, has nothing to do with the aforementioned account, and that it has never released any related statement.
The department urges the public to remain vigilant and not to trust others easily. Until the authenticity of the information is verified, do not readily believe information found on social media platforms. At the same time, do not disclose personal information to unidentified individuals.
The department takes the misuse of departmental logos very seriously and has reported the matter to the relevant authorities. It reminds the public that spreading false information, especially information fabricated with the intent to mislead, is illegal and may be reported under Section 34 of the Public Order Act (Chapter 148).
This section stipulates that anyone who spreads false reports or makes false statements verbally, in writing, or in any other way, resulting in public disorder, may be sentenced to three years’ imprisonment or fined $3,000, or both.
