(Bandar Seri Begawan, 6th) Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, Crown Prince Al-Muhtadee Billah, yesterday presided over the 16th Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University (UNISSA) Graduation Exhibition at the Sultan Islamic Treasure Gallery.
This year’s 16th UNISSA Graduation Exhibition is themed “Exploring the Treasure of Knowledge, Cultivating Generation after Generation of Outstanding Muslims.” This reflects UNISSA’s commitment to exploring, inheriting, and innovating the treasures of Islamic knowledge, with the goal of nurturing a generation of learned, devout, and God-fearing youths to serve as role models in various fields.
Upon arrival, the Crown Prince was welcomed by the Minister of Religious Affairs, Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Dr. Haji Mohammad Daud, and Minister of Education, Datin Seri Paduka Dr. Romaizah.
Subsequently, the Crown Prince delivered his royal speech and consented to view a video presentation arranged by the event. The video showcased UNISSA’s role in “exploring and creating the knowledge treasures of the Khair Ummah generation,” highlighting the safeguarding and innovation of Islamic academic treasures in the context of artificial intelligence technology and emerging global challenges.
After the opening ceremony, the Crown Prince toured the 16th UNISSA Graduation Exhibition. The exhibition featured collections of Islamic manuscript treasures, students’ research achievements, digital innovations, Islamic research traditions, and contributions from Brunei’s religious scholars.
The contents of the exhibition demonstrated the continuity of the Islamic scholarly tradition, from handwritten manuscripts and the “talaqqi” learning system to contemporary research and the use of digital technologies.
After visiting the exhibition, His Royal Highness was invited to unveil 36 newly published books by UNISSA and received a commemorative gift.
The latest publications include 21 academic monographs and 15 issues of academic journals, covering a wide range of disciplines such as Islamic studies, Shafi’i school of thought, leadership, zakat management, purposes of Islamic law, translation of religious texts, law, Islamic technology, history, bioethics, da’wah, constitution, and manuscript studies.
The 16th UNISSA Exhibition exemplifies UNISSA’s ongoing commitment to safeguarding Islamic intellectual heritage, promoting research and publication, utilizing digital technology, and nurturing a “Khayra Ummah” generation that is knowledgeable, skilled, and possesses noble character.
