(Putrajaya, 13th) Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar stated that the public has complained that refueling has become "troublesome" due to the requirement to use MyKad (Malaysian identity card), but he joked, "You need to bring your IC even when getting married..."
Speaking today at the monthly assembly at the Prime Minister’s Department regarding the government rollout of targeted RON95 fuel subsidies, he said that with this new measure, which differentiates between local citizens and foreign users, the government has managed to save RM3 billion.
"We don’t want to burden the people. Yes, some say, 'Why is this country so troublesome? Even to refuel we have to show our identification card.' Oh dear, but bringing your IC—even when getting married, you need to have it!"
He said that as long as the public understands, the government can still achieve huge savings.
