Law Enforcement Agencies Saved the Country RM15.5 Billion in Two Years; Anwar: Savings Channeled Back to the People Through Aid

(Putrajaya, 13th) Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar praised law enforcement agencies for their high efficiency in combating smuggling, plugging leaks, and fighting corruption, saving the country RM15.5 billion within two years. He pointed out that he learned a decade ago that illegal syndicates once controlled ports, but due to collusion with high-ranking officials, enforcement officers were powerless to resist.
“For them to exist for so long, there must have been collusion with senior enforcement, influential elites, and maybe even ministers or the prime minister. We should ask ourselves, we pray to God five times a day, seeking divine protection, not to be cruel or oppressive, yet we tolerate these injustices to continue?”
Therefore, the Prime Minister thanked the Customs Department, MACC, Inland Revenue Board, the police, and all other enforcement agencies for their efforts and actions, and said he himself is striving to drive reforms.
He said this in his speech today at the Prime Minister’s Department’s monthly assembly in Putrajaya.
Anwar said that the various forms of assistance the government has provided to the people are not miracles, but come from savings gained through reforms, plugging financial loopholes, and anti-corruption measures, and are returned to benefit the people.
“Why can we, without increasing taxes, provide more to the people, whether it is to civil servants, the poorest university students, healthcare, the Rahmah Cash Contribution (SARA), or the Rahmah Aid (STR)? This is not a miracle.”
He said these are precisely the national funds saved through anti-corruption efforts and reforms.
