Hollywood superstar 'Tom Cruise' received an award from the US Navy for his role in the 'Top Gun' series, officially becoming a distinguished 'naval hero'. According to the Associated Press, on the 17th, Tom Cruise was awarded the highest civilian honor by the US Navy for his 'outstanding contribution to the Navy and Marine Corps' through the 'Top Gun' series movies.
While filming in the UK recently, Tom Cruise received the Distinguished Public Service Award from US Secretary of the Navy Carlos Del Toro at a ceremony held in a studio near London.
Cruise expressed that he was very proud to receive such an 'extraordinary recognition' and displayed the medal and certificate in front of the camera. He said, 'I admire all the military personnel. What is very real to me is that leadership is service, and I completely understand this. I have seen this in both male and female military members.' The US Navy stated that Cruise 'helps the public better understand our well-trained personnel and the sacrifices made while wearing the uniform.'
