30-year-old Korean star Na In-woo gained significant popularity earlier this year for playing the "Affectionate Director" in the Korean drama "Shall We Get Married?", making him a promising new-generation male star. What makes fans even more envious is that after waiting for 3 years to enlist, he ended up being directly exempted from military service.
According to Korean media reports, Na In-woo underwent a physical examination 3 years ago with the intention of serving in the military before focusing on his acting career. Unexpectedly, after the physical examination, he was classified as a Level 4 supplementary service member. As a result, he has been waiting for as long as 3 years without receiving any notification for military service and was thus automatically exempted.
The news has sparked envy among many eligible Korean men waiting to serve. According to Korean media "Sports Chosun", under the Korean Military Service Act, Level 4 supplementary service members are not required to enlist immediately but must wait for a notice. They will only be conscripted if deemed necessary, and if not called up within 3 years, they are exempt from military service.
Since Na In-woo has already reached the 3-year limit, he has been exempted from military service. Reports say that this year, more than 10,000 Korean citizens, like Na In-woo, have been exempted from military service.
