(Miri, 15th) The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (Maritim Malaysia) Miri Maritime Enforcement Zone successfully detained a tugboat approximately 3.6 nautical miles northwest of the Miri River mouth due to it not having a valid ship license and its failure to provide the ship's license during inspection.
The Director of the Miri Zone of the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency, Captain Maritime Mohd Khairol Anuar bin Saad, issued a statement last night indicating that the Maritime Enforcement Agency's patrol boat detained the tugboat at 6:10 PM yesterday during the "OP PERMAI 01/2019" and "OP TIRIS 3.0" operations.

He further noted that the tugboat was operated by a 49-year-old captain and had two Indonesian crew members aged between 37 and 42. The tugboat has been escorted to the detention center, and the case is being investigated under the "1953 Boat Rules."
