(Kuching, 31st) A motorcyclist was killed on the spot on Monday morning (March 30) after colliding with a car near Klinik Tanah Putih on Jalan Kwong Lee Bank.
Kuching District Police Chief Alickson Nangka Chabu said the accident occurred at around 8:40am.
He said: "Preliminary investigations revealed that the motorcyclist is believed to have lost control due to the slippery road surface, then skidded and veered to the left side of the road."
"The motorcycle then crashed into the rear of a car waiting at the traffic light in the left lane."
He added that the injured victim was confirmed dead at the scene at around 9:10am by a medical assistant from Sarawak General Hospital.
The case is currently being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which carries a maximum penalty of 10 years' imprisonment and a fine of up to RM50,000 upon conviction.
The police are appealing to witnesses or anyone with information to come forward to assist in the investigation.
