Fung Shui-fan Passes Away | Once Slammed Wong Jing for Ruining Many People, Regretted Starring in Bad Films as 'Lifetime Shame'

Famous Hong Kong actor Fung Shui-fan was shockingly reported to have passed away yesterday (October 31), at the age of 81. In 2023, while attending the opening ceremony of the film 'Butterfly Mansion', he strongly criticized Wong Jing, calling him a bastard who ruined many people.

Back in the day, Fung Shui-fan rose to fame with the role of 'Ngau Tau Fan' in Wong Jing’s Hong Kong film 'The Romancing Stars', with his line 'Banana you guava' becoming a classic and deeply rooted in people’s hearts. However, at the film’s opening press conference, Fung Shui-fan stated that he had already decided years ago to stop acting in comedies, and then sharply remarked: 'I call them lousy films, it’s the shame of my life.' He explained that he did not resist comedy itself, but disliked farces: 'Those farces are so over the top they’re not even human anymore. When I hear the word funny, I get annoyed.'

In response, Wong Jing posted a picture of Fung Shui-fan and Chow Yun-fat in 'The Romancing Star', showing Fung Shui-fan’s character being pranked when bathing and mistakenly applying skin shrinker, causing his body muscles to contract and his face to contort. Wong Jing sarcastically commented: 'Taiwan, China is a strange place. Many Hong Kongers go there and experience acclimatization issues, and their minds become confused. A perfectly normal person will gradually become silly and start talking nonsense. Not long ago, there was one surnamed Hsiao who thought he was a genie, then a Mr. To who thought he was the God of Food, and today, there’s a Mr. Fung who seems to have a persecution complex and imagines himself as the Eightdan God. Director Chien, out of the kindness of your heart, let him continue his treatment. Using patients as actors won’t save much, and it’s illegal.'
