UMNO Youth Chief Akhmal reminds MCA not to underestimate the sensitivity of the Malay people, pointing out that the two parliamentary seats won by the party are reliant on the support of Malay voters.
In response to MCA Deputy President Datuk Tan Teik Cheng's earlier statement that Akhmal should reflect on why non-Malays dislike him, Akhmal retaliated, asking MCA to "reflect" on the two parliamentary seats they won.
In his Facebook post, he wrote: "You should also reflect on which constituencies you won those two parliamentary seats in... Just in case you forgot, let me remind you."
Currently, MCA's two parliamentarians in the lower house are President and Ayer Hitam MP Datuk Seri Dr. Wee Ka Siong and Tanjung Piai MP Datuk Seri Dr. Wee Jeck Seng.
These two constituencies are mixed but have a majority of Malay voters.
In addition, Akhmal stated that his outspoken defense of religious and ethnic issues is not to please anyone but rather to "carry the responsibility of safeguarding religion and ethnicity."
"If you touch or belittle it, we will go all out to counter, no matter which party you are from."
"Don’t forget to accompany your friend, Lau Yuk Kwang, to court at that time!"
Previously, Tan Teik Cheng criticized Akhmal for threatening to sue MCA Johor publicity deputy director and Pasir Gudang city councilor Lau Yuk Kwang, stating that Akhmal, who is overbearing, should reflect on his own actions and attitude instead of repeatedly making mistakes.
He mentioned in a statement that the nickname used by Lau Yuk Kwang in his Facebook post to describe Akhmal was not originally coined by Lau Yuk Kwang, but is a term used by many Chinese netizens when referring to Akhmal. Therefore, Akhmal should self-reflect on why the non-Malay community holds such a deep negative impression of him, rather than pointing the finger at any individual.
