(Kuching, 30th) Scouts and Girl Guides will be able to enjoy more comprehensive camping facilities at Matang, thanks to the development of an integrated facility.
Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari stated that the venue will feature its own buildings to facilitate various activities for both Scouts and Girl Guides.
“We are constructing a building, and as far as I know, around 70% has been completed, with only 30% remaining. Once completed, it will provide a place and facilities for Scouts and Girl Guides from all over Malaysia to gather and hold related activities.”
He made these remarks when interviewed by reporters after officiating at the groundbreaking ceremony for the Malaysian Scout Association Sarawak Branch Headquarters at Batu Lintang today.
Abang Johari, who is also Sarawak’s Chief Scout, pointed out that the facility aims to train young people who join the Scouts and Girl Guides, enabling them to participate in activities that help shape self-identity and personal development.
According to him, the state government had previously handed over the site to the Scouts and Girl Guides to be used as an activity center and campsite, including for organizing “Jamboree” activities.
