Severe flooding has hit Hatyai, Thailand, even the Lee Garden tourist area in the city center is inundated! Many tourists, including Malaysian visitors, are forced to stay in their hotel rooms and have shared the situation online via social media, with some posting requests for rescue.
According to travelers online, they can only remain in the hotel and wait for updates, unable to go anywhere, as Hatyai streets are submerged. Additionally, many netizens are leaving comments encouraging tourists to keep going, believing rescue teams will soon arrive to carry out rescue efforts.
Mohamad Khairul: Running Out of Milk Powder and Diapers
"I am in Siam Oriental Hotel, how do I contact the embassy? I have children, and we’re running out of milk powder and diapers."
A Malaysian tourist, Mohamad Khairul, together with his wife and two young children aged 1 and 4, are trapped in a hotel in Hatyai. The hotel now resembles "a solitary island," completely surrounded by floodwaters.
Mohamad Khairul told Kosmo! that, due to a power outage, he has to conserve his phone battery, and urgently needs help for milk powder, diapers, food, and drinking water.
He said that it was still raining in the area, and his car was parked in the hotel’s outdoor parking lot.
Wan Nor As’ikin: Water Levels Keep Rising
Another stranded tourist, Wan Nor As’ikin (in her 30s), reported that water levels continue to rise, with some roads now submerged up to thigh height, which left her extremely anxious.
"I came to Hatyai with my coworkers, and also brought two children aged 9 months and 5 years. Now, all of us are stuck in the hotel and completely unable to leave."
"The situation is very tense, as there is already no food supply, and the children's milk powder and diapers will only last until tomorrow."
She added that the rain remains heavy, water levels are climbing, and the water has already flooded the hotel lobby stairs.
"I feel if the water rises one more step, it will rush into the lobby. It’s terrible here, water is everywhere and many vehicles have been flooded.
"The weather forecast says heavy rain will continue tomorrow. I have tried contacting the embassy via email, hoping they can provide help as soon as possible."
She explained that there are many Malaysian tourists trapped in the hotel, but so far no food aid has arrived.
"We asked the hotel reception if there will be any boat rescue or food supplies, but they also do not know."
