Lin Qiren: Fuzhou People’s Golf Gathering Never Ends — The Three States’ Friendship Continues for 29 Years

(Miri, 3rd) — Captain of the Miri Seahorse Golf Team and Organizing Committee Chairman Lin Qiren stated that the 29th Pan-Borneo Fuzhou Golf Championship has successfully concluded. The successful holding of the event reflects the unity of all sides and demonstrates the deep and unchanging bond among Fuzhou compatriots from the three regions for 29 years.

He made these remarks at last night’s closing and awards ceremony held at the Fu Hua Hall of the Miri Palace Grand Hotel.

He said that after two days of competition, a welcome banquet, and a gala dinner, this year’s event has officially drawn to a close. As the host, his heart is full of gratitude.
First, he thanked Sarawak’s Deputy Minister of Tourism, Datuk Sebastian Ting, and Miri Mayor Yii Siu Kiong for their support and attendance, describing their efforts to participate despite their busy schedules as the greatest encouragement to the organizers and support to the Fuzhou community.

He pointed out that since the Pan-Borneo Fuzhou Golf Championship was founded, it has always held "fellowship" as its main purpose. For 29 years, friends from the three states have gathered once a year to continue this deep friendship.

"We may lose in golf, but the brotherhood among Fuzhou people will never lose."

He also thanked friends from Sabah and Brunei for coming from afar to participate, making the tournament even more meaningful and warm.

Lin Qiren also expressed gratitude to Federation President Datuk Ling Siew Keong and Datuk Sri Lau Kiu Kieng for their leadership and support, as well as to vice presidents, committee members, advisors, and all staff for their hard work, which ensured the smooth running of the event.

He also thanked the sponsors, Fu Hua Hall, and the golf course staff, emphasizing that the success of the tournament depended on everyone working together.

He said that golf places great importance on "the character of the game reflects the character of the player." During the competition, players showed mutual respect, encouragement, humility in victory, and perseverance in defeat, fully embodying the spirit passed down through this event over the years.

He hopes that the younger generation will continue to carry forward this spirit so that the tournament can develop over an even longer term.

He said, there’s no banquet that lasts forever, but for the Fuzhou people, the golf gathering never ends. He wished everyone safe travels and looked forward to reuniting next year in Brunei.

In terms of this year’s results, the team champion was taken by Bintulu Egret Team, the runner-up by Sri Aman Dove Team, and the third place went to Kuching Hornbill Team. The Gross Event champion was Li Jia Jing, and the Net Event champion was Li Guo Wei.
