(Miri, 3rd) Dato Lin Shuqiang, Co-Chairman of the Miri Seahorse Golf Team, stated that golf is a lifetime of endless matches, and its true meaning lies not in the results, but in friendship, perseverance, and responsibility to society.

He made these remarks last night during his speech at the closing awards dinner of the 29th Pan-Borneo Fuzhou Golf Tournament, held at the Grand Palace Hotel, Miri Fuhua Hall.

He said that after two wonderful and challenging days of competition, golf friends from Sabah, Brunei, and various parts of Sarawak gathered together, marking the triumphant conclusion of the event. This was more than just an awards banquet—it was a celebration of a shared journey, combining the relaxation and joy after completing the tournament with admiration and congratulation among peers.

He thanked all the golf friends who traveled from afar to participate, making the event more grand and meaningful. He pointed out that during the competition, there was both the composure of swinging in favorable conditions and the perseverance in adversity. He emphasized, "Success does not lie in never making mistakes, but in steadfastly taking the next shot after each error." This is a spirit witnessed collectively.

He also congratulated the winners and encouraged those who did not win to try again next year. He stressed that in the world of golf, true victory is not just the numbers on the scorecard, but the positive energy and spirit demonstrated on the course.

Lin Shuqiang noted that every participant is a winner because not only did everyone invest time and enthusiasm, but they also gained friendship and growth. He further emphasized that the spirit of golf should not stop at the course, but should also extend to social responsibility.

He said that for many years, the organizers have always upheld the belief of "giving back to society while enjoying sports and friendship", turning the event’s achievements into support and assistance for charitable organizations in Miri. This power, though low-key, is real, warm, and far-reaching.

“The value of a sport is not only measured by wins and losses, but by how much goodwill it brings to society.” He said that while golfers are swinging on the course, they are also passing on care and responsibility in society, allowing their influence to extend to every corner of the community.

He mentioned that from its beginnings as a community event, the tournament has now brought together golf friends from Sabah, Brunei, and Sarawak. It is not just a competition but a deep friendship that transcends regions and cultures.

He stressed that hopes remain high for continuing to enhance the scale and impact of the tournament in the future, but what remains unchanged is the original intention: to play, grow, and do good deeds together. “In the end, what really matters is not how many strokes you’ve won, but how much warmth you’ve brought to society.”

He said that tonight may be a period, but it is also a new starting point. Everyone will pursue excellence on the course and continue charity in life, passing this spirit onward.
