The signing ceremony for the intergovernmental certificate of the emergency humanitarian aid project from China to Iran was held on Wednesday (15th) at the headquarters of the Iranian Red Crescent Society in Tehran. Chinese Ambassador to Iran, Cong Peiwu, and President of the Iranian Red Crescent Society, Kolivand, attended the event.
Cong Peiwu said that China and Iran are good friends and good partners, and the friendship between the people of the two countries has a long history. China always cares about the Iranian people. This emergency humanitarian aid to Iran is a vivid practice of China’s vision of building a community with a shared future for mankind and fulfilling its international humanitarian obligations. Since the outbreak of the conflict, China has been committed to restoring regional peace and ending hostilities. China will continue to work with the international community to promote the early restoration of peace and stability in the Middle East.
Kolivand expressed his gratitude to China for reaching out to help Iran multiple times during difficult moments and for firmly supporting Iran at bilateral and multilateral occasions. The friendship between the two countries has stood the test of time. He mentioned that, on the very first day of the conflict, after a girls' school in the southern Iranian city of Minab was attacked, China donated emergency humanitarian aid to Iran.
Kolivand stated that the attacks by the United States and Israel against Iran have damaged more than 137,000 pieces of infrastructure, including airports, fuel storage facilities, bridges, and railways. These attacks all violate international humanitarian law.
