(Bandar Seri Begawan, 12th) The second meeting of the 22nd session of the National Assembly has successfully concluded after six days, during which four motions were debated, 220 ministerial inquiries were completed, and three ministerial statements were delivered.
During this session of the 22nd National Assembly, the parliament examined and approved several major matters, including the national budget and legislative bills, as well as current issues related to socio-economic development, education, health, and other matters raised in the inquiries.
The meeting also discussed motions related to accelerating the implementation of the "Brunei Vision 2035," as well as the formulation of a code of ethics and conduct for members of the National Assembly. Every debate enriched the content of this meeting and helped the members reflect more maturely and comprehensively on the country's development.
This was one of the points made by Speaker Pehin Abdullah during the closing speech at the Parliament Building's chamber yesterday afternoon, marking the conclusion of Brunei's 22nd session.
"I am also pleased that the Brunei Parliament has officially become a member of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU). After this meeting's resolutions, the Parliament has now attended two IPU assemblies, which has strengthened Brunei's parliamentary diplomacy and opened up avenues to learn international best practices."
"The Parliament is also currently planning to participate as an observer in meetings of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA)."
In fact, this kind of international participation reminds us that the council must always remain sensitive and responsive to the global situation, which will help ensure that the topics discussed in the chamber remain relevant and sustainable.
